"You would?" Silas blinked at Ran before he turned his attention to the teal demon. "E-err.." He glanced away from Tamilia, clutching at the futon in his arms. "That sounds tempting but I'm just not interested in Ran like that. I only just met the guy yesterday so.." He chuckled awkwardly.

Tamilia sighed and shrugged. "Your loss. Man, I wish demons could make contracts with other demons, I'd switch places with you in a heartbeat." She paused and thought. "Well... maybe not. I don't really fancy the idea of having to fight and beat other people in order to keep my soul from getting used up," she mused absentmindedly.
Ran coughed awkwardly, murmuring "I hadn't quite gotten around to telling him about that yet." Fafner finished paying for his groceries, and Ran busied himself loading their items on the counter.

"Keep my soul from getting used up?" Silas said, placing his futon down onto the conveyor-belt. "And what do you mean by 'fighting other people?' I don't think Ran ever explained that.." He continued, giving Ran a not so friendly stare from behind as the demon continued to place the items on the counter.

"Oop- I gotta go!" Tamilia smiled and waved. "See you around some time!" She took one of the grocery bags and followed Fafner out the store.
Ran tugged at his shirt collar awkwardly as the cashier scanned their items. "Weeell... You see, when I feed on you, I'm actually kind of leeching a bit of your soul. It's not even something you can stop from happening by avoiding touching me or something, the contract makes it happen a tiny bit at a time anyways. If you just want to live a peaceful life with me here in the city, eventually your soul will get used up completely. Heheh," he said, nervously watchin Silas's reaction. "BUT, there's a way to negate it!" he added. "If you defeat other contracted humans, or even demon beasts that have eaten human souls, it replenishes a bit of what you've lost of yours. So, uh... you're going to have to fight like you did with that toothy blob monster. A whole lot."

"What the hell? So..I'm dying right now as we speak?!" Silas exclaimed. "I'm going to have to fight more of that freaky shit from yesterday?! And speaking of yesterday, why didn't you tell me this then?!" People passing by them were starting to talk amongst themselves in hushed tones and giving them weird looks. Even the cashier who was bagging their items tried his best not to make it too obvious that he was interested in where this conversation was going.

Ran looked away with a mixture of awkwardness and shame. "Well... I thought you knowing would just make me seem like some kind of parasite in your eyes and make it impossible to develop any kind of friendly relationship..." he murmured. "And I figured that as long as I could get you to fight often enough, you wouldn't be in any danger of your soul depleting so there was no reason for it to have to weigh on your mind." He looked back at Silas with an expression between guilt and pity. "I mean, you had just had a breakdown from finding out you were dead and in Heck, I didn't want to make it worse..." He trailed off and turned to pay the register worker for the groceries that were being bagged.

Silas took notice of the unpleasant gaze that was coming from the other patrons near he and Ran. But this time, they were more fixated on Silas than Ran. He quickly realized yelling at a 'seemingly innocent' guy in the middle of a store doesn't exactly give any good first impressions. "F-fine, that's a good enough reason. Just stop making that face. Jeez, you're a pain." Silas scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, looking away from the demon. "But that's all there is to it right? There's nothing else I need to know?"

"Ah... no, nothing else you need to know, I don't think," Ran said quickly. He took the receipt from the cashier and stuck it in one of the grocery bags. He picked a few of the lighter bags up and left the others and the futon for Silas to carry. "Come on, let's get all this stuff home already. Then maybe we can go out and try to find some weak demons for you to practice fighting."

"I'm on board with that." Silas said, placing his futon in between an arm and against the side of his torso. He grabbed the rest of the bags and followed Ran out of the store.
The walk back home was oddly quiet between the boy and the demon with the occasional "turn right on this corner" or "lets cross the street here" breaking the silence for a brief moment. Silas would glance over at Ran a few times as they walked, hoping maybe he and this entire world would just turn into some mirage and he could go back to a normal life, but even he knew that would be highly unlikely. This place was all too real. All of the demons and humans he was passing in the street were real. Even the incubus walking right next to him was real and he was living with him though he knows little to nothing about him. "Sooooo..uh, Ran?" Silas said, "Do you have a background or anything at all? Birthday? Friends? Family? All that jazz?" He asked, slightly looking at him from his peripheral view. "I still don't really know shit about you besides your name and where you live."

Ran looked uncomfortable and shifted the bags he was carrying awkwardly. "Uh, that's a lot of questions," he murmured. He thought for a moment. "Well... I don't remember my parents very well. My mom was never in the picture, with 'cubi it's traditional for the father to raise it if the kid's a boy and the mother to do it if it's a girl. My dad raised me until I hit adolesence, taught me the incubus secrets to seduction, and set me loose on the world. Haven't seen him since, and that was thousands of years ago. That's about all the backstory I have, I've mostly just spent my life wandering around from place to place, bedding the locals and cutting town when it gets to the point that people start recognizing me." He looked up at the perpetually dark sky, reminiscent. "As for my birthday, I don't really remember that either. They're not very important when you live for millenia." For just a moment, despite his eternal youthful attractiveness, he looked very, very old. He snapped out if his reverie and looked back at Silas. "What about you? What's your life story? You know, from back when you were alive."

"Huh..lets see.." Silas said with a thoughtful gaze. "I lived with my Mom, her husband and little bro. My biological Dad passed away when I was 7, Mom remarried a year later with some self-righteous prick named Dan and had my younger brother. I lived a pretty boring life in the suburbs and was really popular back in the realm of the living, which is probably no surprise. I was at a party every other night it seemed." Silas smirked pridefully. "Back at home though, I don't think there was a day that I didn't get into some petty argument with my Mom or Dan. I tried to stay out of the house as much as possible just so I'd be able to avoid speaking to them. Sometimes even crashing at my friends house for days on end. But oh man, there was this one time Dan and I really got into it and I thought he was going to fucking murder me after he found a pack of weed under my bed. Gave me a bloody nose and everything." Silas chuckled sheepishly. "It's still a bummer that I can't remember how I died though..Dan probably had a hand in it, I bet. Oh well."

"Doesn't sound like too horrible a life, at least," Ran said. "I've met some humans here who died of starvation, those are not pretty tales. I'm sure you'll remember how you died eventually, maybe you'll find some sort of trigger that brings it all back to you." They finally arrived back at the apartment, and Ran put his bags down to unlock the door. "C'mon, let's get all this stuff put away, relax for a few minutes, and then go kill some monsters," he said cheerfully, picking up the bags again and shouldering the door open.

((his stepdad isnt as bad as he makes him out to be. silas is just a spoiled brat lmao. but i guess thats the reason he ended up in Heck in the first place))
Silas immediately dropped the bags and futon on the ground and plopped onto the bed as soon as they got inside. His arms were aching from having to carry such heavy items for such a long duration of time. "God, I'm tired.." He muttered, rubbing an eye with his hand. "You think you can put the food away yourself? Those bags weren't light y'know. I'd say I did half of the work here." He yawned and turned over on the bed. "I need a quick nap anyway since I'm going to be fighting soon."

Ran rolled his eyes. "You know, you're really gonna have to build up some endurance if you wanna stay alive down here," he chided, bringing the bags of food into the small kitchen. "You are gonna pass out after you finish being transformed anyways, why bother wasting time on a nap?" He started putting some of it away in cupboards and the fridge, then looked back at the unmoved boy. "Anyways, if you're going to sleep, at least do it on your futon instead of my bed. That's what we bought it for after all." He turned away and added, slightly softer, with a smirk on his face. "Besides, having someone in my bed that I'm not allowed to touch is like having a cake sitting on your kitchen table and not being allowed to eat it."

Silas wasted no time springing off of the bed and scooping up his futon from off of the floor. “..Fair enough.” He said, with a small pout. He stepped into the kitchen for a knife to remove the band that held the bed together. "Ran," He sat down on the ground and started cutting the band. "Earlier when we were talking to those two other demons, you said you wouldn't be against me being your 'main squeeze', as Tamilia put it. Humans and Demons being in a relationship isn't taboo down here? I mean, we're two totally different species."
