The embers around Ashe's eyes had instantaneously disappeared when Simon slumped onto the ground. Seeing the vampire in such a pitiful state made it hard to be angry, and after all, he did express his appreciation.
"Um," Ashe scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Sort of..? You want to drink my blood and I want nothing to do with you. Well, that's not.. entirely true." Ashe coughed a bit, glancing away from Simon. "I do find our rivalry to be kind of...fun..but as you said, there's nothing really fueling it on my end, so it's difficult for it to continue on like this." He sat in silence for a moment, taking a seat on the toilet next to Simon. "Okay so, since we're unable to be rivals without things getting weird, how do you feel about us being.." Ashe stopped himself. Was he really about to say this? Was he seriously about to suggest becoming friends with the most irritating vampire on the planet? He gulped hard before speaking again. "..Friends instead..?"

Simon blinked. What? He looked up at Ashe, one eyebrow raised in bewilderment. "You... Are you serious?" he asked in disbelief. "You want to be friends." His tone was a bit skeptical, but most of all confused.
What had he ever done to merit the wizard wanting to be friends with him? Simon annoyed and ridiculed him every chance he got, and had even physically assaulted him a few times. Ashe had threatened to kill him on at least three occasions. "Why would you want to be friends with me?" he asked a little more quietly. "All I've ever done is harass you, and drink or threaten to drink your blood. You've done more for me than I have for you, and you're a total shit 99% of the time."

"That's what I said, isn't it? Don't make me have to repeat myself." Ashe hurriedly said, still refusing to make eye contact with Simon. The points the vampire was making about their previous encounters started to make the idea of them ever becoming "allies" over "enemies" sound even more insane than before. Seriously, who makes friends with a guy who keeps threatening to suck you dry?
"W-well," Ashe muttered, twiddling his fingers a bit. "You're the only one at this school besides my roommate, Dalton, that I care to speak to on a regular basis. I have other acquaintances, yes, but I don't have as many classes with them, so it's hard to form any sort of friendship." He continued, "Plus, things always seem to get a lot more entertaining when you're around. You irritate the living hell out of me, but as you've said, I annoy you too, so there's equal ground there. Not sure if I enjoy the bickering or if I hate it, to be honest." He paused. "B-but of course, if you don't want to, it's fine! No skin off my bones."

Simon sat silently for what felt like a long while. It was just... weird, thinking of being friends with Ashe after spending so long at odds with him. But would it really be that bad?
"You know, I... think I feel the same way. You annoy the fuck out of me and I enjoy returning the favor, but... It's fun. I don't really have anyone I hang out with as much as you, even if my reason for it was to be antagonistic..." He looked up at Ashe. "I guess... maybe we could try being friends, and see how it goes? It might make some stuff less awkward, at least," he offered. "I'll hang around to keep you company, but I'm not sticking to this whole slave-for-a-day thing. You cheated on that bet anyways, you ass."

A sigh of relief almost escaped Ashe when Simon agreed. It would have been awkward as hell if he declined the offer, not to mention it'd have made the wizard feel like a total dumbass for thinking friendship would have been a good suggestion in the first place.
"I didn't cheat, I simply improvised." Ashe replied back with a satisfied smirk. "But whatever. If you want to shirk your duties, its fine by me. You've already caused me enough hell already." He said as he picked a stray noodle from the vampires hair as to remind him of his earlier prank, and then tossed it into the trash bin.
He made a small yawn and finally stood up from the toilet, "Bleh, I think all of that yelling made me exhausted.. I'm going to take a nap or something." He strolled out of the bathroom, stretching his arms a bit as he approached his bed. "I don't have to worry about you trying to bite me while I'm asleep, I trust? After all, we're ~friends~ now." Ashe said in a dramatic voice, added with jazz hands.

"What, you make a big fuss about wanting me here to keep you company and as soon as I say I'll stay you decide to take a nap?" Simon snorted. "What am I supposed to do, just sit around and wait for you to wake up?" He hauled himself up off the floor and went to plug the hairdryer back in. "Tell you what, you go sleep, and I'm gonna dry my shirt out, go back to my room for a shower and clean clothes, and then come back in a bit." He pointed the hairdryer at his shirt and began the loud WHRRRing process of trying to dry it again.

"Awww, going back to get yourself all gussied up for me?" Ashe snickered, bringing a hand up to his mouth to cover his grin. "In all seriousness though, you go ahead and do that. It's kind of hard to speak to you while you still smell like my wasted lunch." He picked up the plush pillows he had thrown earlier from the ground and tossed them onto his bed lazily, not bothering to neatly place them with his other three pillows like he normally would. He was too tired from exhausting what little spark of magic he had left in himself on that semi-emotional roller coaster of an argument the two of them had, and all he wanted to do now was get a little bit of shuteye.
Ashe got himself into bed, removed his glasses and sat them down on the nightstand next to his bed. He suspiciously eyed Simon from his bed, though he could barely see the vampire aside from him being just a blurry purple figure. It felt odd going to sleep knowing he and Simon had basically just signed a peace treaty. He never thought there'd ever be a day he could just casually take a nap while Simon was in the same room as him, but it seemed today just so happened to be that day. After finally getting use to the loud whirring that the blow dryer was making, Ashe drifted into sleep while hoping that this whole 'friendship' thing really wasn't a bad idea.
(( what if simon draws something on ashe's face while hes sleeping lmao ))

After what seemed like forever, Simon finally judged his shirt dry enough to wear. He pulled it on and buttoned it sloppily, not really caring about making it look perfect since he wouldn't be wearing it for long. After storing the hairdryer back in the cupboard where he had found it, he exited the bathroom. Ashe was sleeping like a baby, almost cute in how peaceful and vulnerable he looked. Snuggled up all unaware and completely defenseless... Dammit, they were friends now, Simon wasn't supposed to try to think of ways to torture or humiliate the wizard anymore. But... hmm, there was something he could do that would be harmless and amusing, surely not out of the bounds of their new relationship...
Simon searched Ashe's desk for a marker, and grinned malevolently when he found one. He tiptoed over to Ashe's bed, leaned over him... and drew a bit fat mustache on his face. He held his laughter until he left the room and softly closed the door behind him, then burst out cackling. That would certainly be amusing when Ashe woke up. Satisfied with his prank, Simon headed down the hall to his room to take a shower.
((do you wanna end this storyline there and go to the mayflower dinner now?))

Ashe…. wanted to turn back. He wanted to tell his designated driver to make a complete U-turn, drop he and Simon off at the nearest airport, successfully convince Simon into running away with him to Portugal and never look back. The young wizard had been heavily anticipating the day he would introduce his boyfriend of 2 months to his family, and it was beginning to take a toll on his health. He hardly got any sleep the night prior, he hardly touched his breakfast at all that morning and he was spacing out continuously. His mind was filled with negative possibilities and outcomes the trip would lead to, and he was quite literally on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Ashe’s eyes darted to the half-rolled up partition that separated the drivers seat from the passenger’s. The chauffeur was a normal looking elderly man, save for the moderately large cobblestone horns sticking out from his forehead that curved backwards and his claw-like fingers. Ashe tapped the empty seat beside him rhythmically while he thought to himself for a good moment. “…Oscar, could you roll up the partition, please?” He finally spoke.
The gargoyle glanced at the two teenagers from the rear view mirror before giving a slight nod at the order. “Of course, young master.” Oscar pressed a button on the dashboard which immediately rolled up the tinted window.
As soon as the window closed, Ashe quickly moved closer to the vampire sitting beside him. “Simon, I’m telling you: we don’t have to do this.” He whispered very quietly, as if the limousine itself had ears. “We could go back to the academy right now. I’ll have Oscar tell them one of us caught the flu or something. They’ll be none the wiser..!”

"And miss out on meeting this infamous family of yours? No way," Simon snorted. He was very much looking forward to the coming trip; he'd never gotten the chance to really see what a human family was like (even if the Mayflowers might not quite be the average, since they were wizards and all), and it'd be interesting to see what sort of home environment had managed to spawn someone like Ashe. Still, even though he felt light about the situation, he could tell from Ashe's frantic heart rate that his boyfriend's suggestions weren't just jokes.
He patted the wizard's knee comfortingly and leaned over to to give him a peck on the jaw, a bit above the spot where he had recently taken to biting him almost every day (thank goodness for healing magic). "Don't worry, I doubt this is gonna be like whatever catastrophe you've concocted in your head. It's not like we're going to see my family where we'd have to worry about all my siblings trying to eat you," he joked, trying to lighten the mood. "What's got you so worried about it, anyways?"

Ashe pouted at the dismissal of his ‘foolproof’ escape plan, but couldn’t help but blush at the display of affection. He was still getting use to the coldness of Simon’s skin, but any time they touched, Ashe always felt a sense of comfort behind it. He placed a hand on Simon’s and lovingly caressed it with his thumb. “What’s worrying me is that my family is going to throw this whole thing completely out of proportion and ruin everything,” Ashe rolled his amber eyes. “They’re expecting me to waltz in with some human girl with magical capabilities so that we can continue the family line of being purely made up of strong and dignified wizards, but we both know you’re the complete opposite of ‘female’ and ‘human’—” He abruptly paused at the end of his sentence after realizing it came out a lot harsher than he originally thought. “N-Not that there’s anything wrong with it! I’m not ashamed of our relationship or anything like that! I love you— I mean, I REALLY like you— I MEAN—” Ashe finally shut himself up by covering his face with his hands out of sheer embarrassment. God, nothing he was saying was coming out right, and he could only predict it was going to get worse as the day went on.

Simon relished the warmth of Ashe's hand on his own. That had to be one of the best perks of upgrading his relationship with the wizard; he could have as much physical contact as he wanted and soak in all that body heat that Ashe seemed to generate even more than other humans. Simon suspected it had something to do with his tendency to get all flamey when emotional.
He laughed a bit as Ashe's sentence crashed and burned into glowing embarrassment, but the blonde's words did put a damper on his cheerful mood. "It's okay, I know what you mean. I'm not exactly... the kind of person most parents would be very thrilled for their kids to take home." He was quiet for a moment, trying to shove all the worries involved with a vampire-human relationship far back into his mind where he wouldn't have to deal with them for years to come. "But, uh... you haven't even told them you're dating a boy yet, let alone a vampire?" he asked, now sounding concerned. "I mean, just... Are you sure they're not going to react poorly and send me--or both of us, even--straight back to De Nuit?"

"I TRIED." Ashe brought his hands from his face and balled them on the lap, his face still as red as a tomato. "They wouldn't even let me speak after I told them I was dating someone! 'We won't take no for an answer, Ashe' and 'if you don't plan on introducing us, we'll just take matters into our own hands and show up to your school, Ashe'. I could barely get a word in on the matter.." He sighed.
He then crossed his arms defensively at Simon's worrying question of being sent back. "If they plan on sending you back, I'm going back with you. No questions asked. I don't want to stay at that house if I can't be there with you." He glanced away from Simon with a small frown. "They wanted to meet the person in my life, then that's exactly what they're going to get. It's not my fault if they end up not liking where I've laid my affections.." The brave face Ashe had going on stayed perfectly in place for a few moments, before his furrowed brow started comically twitching out of nervousness. "BUT IT'S STILL NERVE WRACKING, SIMON."

"Hey, I'm going to be walking into a house full of powerful wizards who could possibly hate me and you're the one who's nervous?" Simon said in a joking tone, trying to lighten the mood. "And I thought I had my hands full with just one Mayflower out to get me." He still had a hard time believing how his relationship with Ashe had gone from hatred to rivalry to friendship to love in the course of a single school year. In their first meeting last fall, Ashe had threatened to burn Simon's lips off if they ever touched him again... and now, at the beginning of summer, the wizard insisted on being the only one Simon drank from. Their bickering hadn't really changed much, though; these kinds of vulnerable moments were the only times you'd ever guess they were in a relationship.
"It's gonna be fine," Simon reassured Ashe, patting his leg.
((man after this one's over I wanna do one where Ashe insists on meeting Simon's family))

Ashe finally managed to smile at Simon's reassurance. "I hope you're right about that.."
Not too long after, the partition window rolled down halfway, revealing the gargoyle driver once more. "Excuse me, young master Ashe, but we are now approaching the Mayflower residence." Oscar said in his usual wheezy tone of voice. He drove through an off-road trail and into a thick, purple haze that seemed to engulf the bright summer sun, leaving no trace of there being a blue sky behind the shroud of mist.
"Don't worry about the haze, it's just a barrier my parents put up a long while back to keep *Mundies from ever finding our home." Ashe explained. "If any of them actually managed to stumble across this place, they'd just go right through the haze and back onto the trail, which then leads them back to the main road. There's a sigil on the bottom of the car that instantly teleports us to my house, like so," On cue, the mist disappeared and the sky was a clear blue again, but the area was vastly different.
The road was now a draw bridge that was paved in cobblestone, with the stones colors ranging from burgundy to brown and gray. A calmly flowing river which looked like it was kept in pristine condition was a few feet under the bridge. It's crystal clear waters glistened in the rays of sunlight. About a hundred meters away was the gated mansion of the Mayflower residence. It's classic solid black gate was entangled with roses and thorns, and the mansion itself was grand, and it's design looked a bit dated as if it was from the 18th century.
When the car finally crossed the bridge and entered the gates, two humanoid figures shot out from a balcony on broomsticks and began hovering over the vehicle like vultures. "Big bro is home!" One of the figures said in a sing song voice. "Is that really big bro in there?" The other asked, scratching his head a bit. "Oh god..." Ashe muttered, pulling the collar of his cape up a bit more to hide his face, not that the two hovering kids could see him through the tinted windows. "It's the demon twins from hell.."
((*can mundies be like, a slang word for mundane humans))
