Simon’s laughter was like a straight-up slap in the face to the young wizard. She was expecting some sort of fearful or timid reaction out of the vampire after she put on such a haughty display. ”I am not adorable and our motives for getting rid of you are VERY adult-like!” Eunice huffed with a blush. She wrapped her arms around her head defensively after Simon removed his hand and stuck her tongue out at him.
Eunice and Morton were both relieved to hear that Simon had no intentions on stealing their big brother away, but that still wouldn’t stop them from antagonizing the vampire for the rest of the week. Wreaking havoc on guests they deemed ‘unwelcome’ was their thing, after all.
The twins blinked when they heard the sound of their Mother shouting about children. It was rare that they ever heard her raise her voice so loudly, and they knew that usually whenever she got to that point, she’d do the “scary hair thing”, as the two would call it. As soon as Simon started asking about their parent’s views on interracial and same-sex relationships, a devious light bulb flickered in their minds at the same time. The two glanced at each other before looking back at Simon with a grim expression.
“Well.. they always have been super conservative..” Eunice muttered, twiddling her fingers a bit. “They really want grandchildren, you know. Full blooded, human, grandchildren.”
“Yeah..I was honestly surprised Mom didn’t char you to a crisp as soon as she found out you were a vampire, man..” Morton sighed. “You see, our grandpa died after a feral vampire attacked him and drank him completely dry. Mom was little at the time.. I thought maybe she invited you in because she was ready to try to forgive your race for the sake of big bro but by the sounds of whats going on behind that door, it doesn’t seem like it..”
“Please forgive our parents on their narrow minded views.” Eunice put a hand on Simon’s shoulder and patted comfortingly. “..After finding all of this out, have you changed your mind on staying here? I don’t blame you if you do. The truth is.. we’ve been trying to get you to leave so that our parents wouldn’t end up hurting you.”

Simon's brow furrowed in concern when the twins told him about their parents' desire for grandchildren. There were ways he and Ashe might be able to talk them around it, especially since there were two other Mayflower children who could have kids, but it would definitely be a problem.
If he had had a circulatory system that allowed it, he would have visibly paled at the information regarding Ashe's mother and vampires. Shit shit shit shit shit. He had been worried his undeadness would be off-putting, but if there were really two fully-grown, trained wizards in this house with a grudge against vampires, he was dead. Well, deader.
He stood up, now extremely nervous and agitated. "You don't, uh... You don't think they'd actually try to hurt me, do you?" he asked, voice shrinking. He may have typically shown bravado when going up against equals, but when he was clearly outmatched he turned into a self-preserving coward. He cocked his head and listened anxiously for anymore shouting from the other room.

"Who's to say?" Morton frowned. "We're just here to warn you before anything bad happens to you.."
---
The louder Ashe's mother got, the more meek and terrified Ashe became. What was he suppose to say his Mom with her in this state? How was he suppose to talk to her? Anything he would say would just cause her to beat herself up more and in turn make him feel even more uncomfortable than he already was.
"Oh jeez." Roy groaned, getting up from his seat. After years of experience with Harp and her emotional breakdowns, he knew if he didn't stop her now, she'd definitely set the ceiling on fire. It's a wonder how their home hasn't been completely demolished yet with a walking fire-hazard and two young and reckless wizards as tenants. "Harper, honey... Hey, look at me. Breathe." Roy spoke to her in a calm voice, while inching over to her slowly. "You're getting worked up again.."
"I'm dealing with this to THE BEST of my ability! I'm sorry if my hair is making you uncomfortable!" Harper snapped.
"It's not just me you're making uncomfortable, you know."
Her hair simmered down almost instantly when she realized Ashe was still sitting there, silently on the couch, not even looking her way out of fear. "Ashe?" Her voice went quiet. She had completely forgotten this conversation was about him and not her in her fit of self-deprecation. "Ashe, sweetheart, I'm so sorry..! I didn't mean to scare you! WHAT KIND OF A MOTHER FRIGHTENS HER OWN CHILD-"
Just before her hair could flare up again, Roy placed a hand on her shoulder with a grim look. "..Sorry." She whispered.
The room went silent for a moment, with only the sound of the grandfather clock filling the void once again. "..You..really like this boy, don't you?" Harper folded her arms over her chest with a small, yet still visibly concerned smile.
Ashe harshly swallowed. "..I-I do."
"Well, there's not much we can do to change your mind I suppose." She continued to smile.
"Not to sound disrespectful but... No, there isn't." Ashe replied.
---
After a few more minutes of the, now quiet, discussion between Ashe and his parents, the door to the lounging area finally opened with Harper and Ashe on the other side. You could tell the air was a bit tense around them, but Harper still kept a smile on her face, just for her son.
"Oh! Simon, was it?" Harper beamed. "Welcome to the family!" She quickly walked over to him and gave him the biggest hug she could muster (which probably would have suffocated Simon in her boobs if he actually needed to breathe), and ended the embrace with a quick pat on the head. She wanted to get the awkward formalities out of the way as quickly as possible for the both of them, and most importantly for Ashe.

Simon heard more shouting from the other side of the door, now beginning to fear for his life. Any minute now, Ashe's parents could burst out of that door and burn him to a husk with a snap of their fingers. Would Ashe even stand a chance at stopping them if that was what they decided to do? He began tugging his gloves back on, getting his umbrella and sunglasses ready to make a dash out the door--would the limo driver even be willing to drive him back to De Nuit if Ashe's parents were after him? Was he stuck here, doomed to die?
Then the door opened, and Simon jumped. He watched nervously as the Mayflowers entered the room, Ashe's mother smiling in a very creepy way. Simon swallowed and braced himself...
Instead of the harsh burn he had been expecting, he found himself suddenly enveloped in warm softness. Was Ashe's mom... hugging him?? When she patted his head and pulled back, he just stood there in a daze for a moment. "Ummm... Thank... You...?" he choked out in confusion.

And in that moment, their entire scheme of scaring Simon off with the idea of their mom hating vampires just went down the drain with a loud flush. The twins were in utter shock and disbelief at the sight of their mother hugging this… this outsider. Just a few minutes ago she was having a literal cow over his relationship with Ashe, and now she was welcoming him into their home with open arms and a smile? What even happened in there?
“Hey, Eunice… this doesn’t look good.” Morton choked.
“I know…! We had him on the ropes too!” Eunice muttered back to her brother with a scowl. With a snap of her fingers, both her broomstick and her twin brothers appeared before them out of thin air. “Ugh, lets retreat for now. We can’t pull any tricks with mom or dad in the vicinity anyway.” Just as the twins were about to mount their brooms, they were yanked straight from underneath them, causing the two wizards to fall flat on their backsides.
“Not so fast, you two.” Harper called to them as the broomsticks flew right into her hands. “Before you go running off to play games again, have you even properly introduced yourselves to our guest yet?” She said with a raised brow.
"Thaaaat won't be necessary, Mother!" Ashe interjected. "As you may know, it was a fairly long trip from the Academy to here, and I think Simon and I would both agree that he should at least take a moment to rest in the guest bedroom. They can introduce themselves later, so you can just let them take their leave."
"Th-the guest bedroom?" Harper glanced over at Simon with a hesitant smile. Was the guest room as it currently was even fit for a vampire? What does a vampires natural habitat even look like? Do they normally sleep in beds or coffins? Maybe they slept underneath beds? All of these unanswered questions were swarming in her head like an angry nest of bees; steam was practically trailing out of her ears! The last thing she wanted to do was to make her potential son-in-law uncomfortable, and in turn make Ashe upset.
"Uhm, the guest bedroom is currently unavailable due to... redecoration! That's it!" Harper blurted out with a snap of her fingers. "The redecoration process should be done shortly after dinner, haha... I'm sorry for the inconvenience." She chuckled nervously. "Speaking of dinner, I should see how that's going! See you kids in a bit!" And with that, Ashe's mom disappeared again in a small puff of gold smoke.
"She never gave us back our broomsticks.." Eunice muttered.
"Well, either way, we aren't ones to disobey Mom so we may as well introduce ourselves, even though this will hopefully be the last time we'll have to speak to you." Morton huffed with his arms crossed. "My name is Morton Augustine Mayflower! And don't you dare forget it!"
"And my name is Eunice Amelia Anne Mayflower! Don't you forget you forget my name either!"
"Yes, yes, he won't be forgetting the hellions of the Mayflower Manor anytime soon." Ashe rolled his eyes. Even though he found their arrogant introductions to be annoying as hell, he couldn't deny that it reminded him of the day he and Simon first met at De Nuit. But in his opinion, it was way cooler when he did it.

Simon was still recovering from his panic and shock; had he been alive, he probably would've been doubled over with a hand pressed to his chest, wheezing. He felt incredibly relieved when Ashe suggested they go relax in the guest bedroom for a bit, only for the idea to be squashed by Harper. What, a mansion this big only had one guest bedroom? But he didn't want to point it out in case it seemed rude.
He was a bit amused at how similar the twins' introductions were to Ashe's, back when he had first met him, but mostly he wanted to get away from them before they tried any other tricks. He doubted their animosity towards him would lead to friendship the way their older brother's had. "Yeah, don't worry, I won't forget either of you," he murmured, then turned to Ashe.
"So, um... If the guest bedroom is unavailable, can we go to your room? Or just any other room where we won't be disturbed? I... think I need to sit down for a bit," he said, a little pathetically. Staying at the Mayflowers' was not going to be good for his nerves.

"Feeling tired, are we? You haven't been here an hour yet and you're already in need of rest." Ashe almost sounded surprised at how apparent Simon's mood from earlier shifted since he arrived at the wizard's home. He was afraid of this happening, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't see this coming from a mile away.. He already knew how tiring his family could be. "We can head to my room so that you can recoup. Are you uhm.. hungry, or anything?" He hesitantly took hold of Simon's hand, a small blush appearing on his face. Even if it had been 2 months of them seeing each other, Ashe still was super shy about doing "normal couple things", like holding hands publicly.
"I just want to make sure that you're comfortable since everyone else here seems to be doing a god awful job of it." Ashe sighed. Still holding Simon's hand, he began to lead the vampire to his chambers. The twins had sudden vanished while the two were busy talking, but it was clear to Ashe that the duo were either probably just tailing he and Simon in their invisibility cloaks, or off conducting their next batch of schemes they had in store for his boyfriend. Either way, they were up to no good.

"Hey, you're the one who suggested we go rest for a bit in the first place," Simon countered. "Besides," he added with a grimace, "your siblings, uh... They just tried to put me through hell and convince me that your parents were homophobic conservatives with a grudge against vampires and that they might try to roast me on the spot, so waiting for the three of you to finish talking was pretty stressful." He sighed as his cool fingers twined comfortably with Ashe's warmer ones.
He hadn't had feeding on the mind before, but after Ashe's question, the slight flush across the wizard's cheeks caught his attention, and his eyes darkened with a hungry look. His gaze trailed downwards towards Ashe's neck, and his tongue slid along the tips of his fangs... "...I'll wait until after dinner. You know it's better to eat before having blood taken, even if you can heal it back right after," he said, giving Ashe's hand a squeeze. "Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be a lot more comfortable once we're in the safety of your room and have some time to relax." He followed Ashe through the halls of his colossal home, trying to memorize the path they were taking from the entrance to his room.
