"I cannot thank you enough for taking time out of your busy schedule to translate this ancient writing, Lady Parihyo." The scaley man of short stature said in gratification. He strongly resembled a standard dwarf, with the only physical features differentiating his species from dwarves were his scales and the snail shell attached to his back. "I'd like to take this time to ask for forgiveness on behalf of myself and everyone among the Council. We come to you more often than not for your aid in translating literature and artifacts, even on Holiday. Sometimes with an entire carriage full of things that require translating.." He glanced back at the carriage he was currently pulling along. It was filled with a heap of tattered books and worn items that were covered by a protective sheet to keep the cargo safe from any weather effects. "And you somehow manage to get them all done in the span of a week! It's remarkable, truly." He praised the Piscean girl.
"Oh please, dear Hammus, it's nothing really." Parihyo smiled. "Knowing that I am contributing information to the Grand Archives of Knowledge is a high honor. I require no thanks, but it is greatly appreciated nonetheless, as it reminds me that my efforts do not go unnoticed." She glossed over the book she had just previously translated for Hammus one final time before handing it back to him. "It's the least I can do since the Arnite language has been lost to the ages. I am dearly grateful for my Mother to have taught me her methods before she passed."
"Ah, yes. Queen Nesoi, was it? She was always such a kind woman. She did a bit of translating and deciphering for us here and there but never as much as you've done for us. Maybe you should see to it that you take a well deserved rest, my lady? You're always taking on these jobs for us and--"
"That won't be necessary." Parihyo interjected. "I assure you I get as much rest as I need. The work I receive each week keeps me busy and quite frankly...not bored. Translating is a mere pass time for a great cause. Your concern is appreciated." Parihyo said.
"Well if you insist, my lady." Hammus replied while stroking his beard in thought. "King Hydros... Is he fluent in tongues such as these?" He said in reference to the books he was transporting. Parihyo paused for a moment. Did Hydros even remember anything their Mother taught them when they were children? Parihyo held whatever she said in high esteem, daring not to forget a single second of her teachings, however she didn't know if she could say the same for her twin brother. "I don't know." Is all she could say in reply.
"Ah..very well then." Hammus smiled. "I must be going now. Do send my regards to the King if you can! I'd be honored to get a chance to speak with him after all of these years. I haven't seen him since he was a wee sprout, that one." He gave a hearty chuckle and began his departure.
"I'll be sure to, Sir Hammus! Always a delight to have you around." Parihyo waved goodbye to her reptilian acquaintance, and returned to the inside of her house through the large ornate backdoor of her castle.
She and Hammus had always made a routine of meeting behind the Piscean Castle by noon at least once a week to exchange things that needed to be deciphered, and things that needed to be added to the archives, always having a bit of chit chat while doing so. But a certain topic in this last meeting stuck with her...and it was something she planned to discuss with her brother.
